On video, Tyson recently said that we've already been choosing the genetics of plants for thousands of years to make them taste better and have less seeds, so people should "chill out" about GMOs. What he completely left out is the fact that many GMOs today are being designed specifically to allow big industrial farms to bathe our food in highly toxic pesticides that can contaminate groundwater and blow downwind onto other fields that are not resistant to these chemicals.

The concern about GMO foods is a legitimate concern and Tyson should not ask anyone to "chill out!" Neil deGrasse Tyson is the star of the new show Cosmos, and has become a science celebrity known for the science of evolution and defending climate science. By dismissing the concerns of GMO critics, he could seriously damage efforts to get GMO food labeled, and confuse the public about the real concerns of GMO critics.

Neil deGrasse Tyson - We urge you to have more concerns regarding Genetically modified foods (GMOs.) It is in the best interest and health of human consumers and the well-being of any animals that we all regard how plants and animals are grown, cared for and raised. This is not a matter that anyone should "chill out" about! We suggest that you apologize, retract and share in the concerns of GMOs for the health and well-being of animals, plants and the human consumer.
