Save Waterworks Park from Private Development

Morrison's mayor, city council, and city administrator are considering selling off the upper half of Waterworks Park for private development to construct condominiums. We are asking Morrison residents to sign this position to let our city administrators know that we are against selling off a portion of a public park to private hands. We believe this area of green space is important to preserve for current and future Morrison residents. It is our belief that in the short term, the revenue that will be raised in this sale is minimal relative to the permanent loss of access to a public space. Long term, we believe this move would be a loss financially as the city looks to broaden its tax base by attracting new residents - many of whom naturally look for access to green space when choosing a new community. Losing green space will make Morrison less attractive to those moving to the area.
