Grant Dr. Larry Swain a tenure position at Bemidji State University

We, current and former students of the Bemidji State University, petition said university to award a tenure teaching position to Dr. Larry Swain. Dr. Larry Swain has been an extremely beneficial addition to the teaching staff at Bemidji State University. His courses provide a challenging and interesting alternative to everyday coursework, and his knowledge of his subjects is extensive.

One of Professor Swain’s unique qualities is his ability to introduce and educate on subjects that may have been completely foreign to students and inspire in them a passion and a desire to learn more. In addition, his desire to pass on this enthusiasm is obvious in the manner in which he teaches. His classes are genuinely challenging at times, and this challenge is well-appreciated challenge by many students who desire something more than an easy credit. He maintains regular office hours that rarely deviate and is not difficult to get in touch with in case of questions.

To not grant a professor of his caliber a tenured position would be to lose a professor who, to many, has been a large reason for continued attendance and interest in programs at Bemidji State University. We, the undersigned, petition Bemidji State to request a reconsideration of his rejection as a tenured professor.
