We the citizens of Winston Park North located in the between NW 42 Way and NW 41 Way are requesting removal of ALL black olive trees.
The Black Olive trees have sticky leaves which fall year round, berries and spent blooms which stain cars driveways and anything they drop on, while their roots have been known to lift up sidewalks and wrap around utility lines.
This cost alone, has cost the city money and man hours which can be spent in other areas of maintenance.
These trees in our area are becoming a hazard as they age because their height for the yards in which they are planted makes them unstable.
The trees also affect property values due to the damage the falling leaves they create.
Several South Florida municipalities have adopted removal of these trees for the reasons listed.
The following is a list of some of the problems that these trees present:
• Larger trees present greater Hurricane threat
• Roots damage water pipes and utilities
• Roots undermine sidewalks
• Lower Property Values
• Falling leaves kills grass
• Year-round leaf clean-up
We the citizens of Winston Park located in the City of Coconut Creek request that the Tree Removal permit fee be waived by the City in order that the trees be removed and have the trees replaced by ones that are more suitable for the environment and the size of the yards.
