Congress, Don't Ban Biofuels in the Air Force!

Left to its own devices, the United States military would be a leader in the use of biofuels. According to a recent column in the Christian Science Monitor, one Navy carrier strike group is fueling all its vehicles--planes, ships, and submarines--with biofuel. Meanwhile, the Army and Marines are saving oil and gas by using solar-powered micro-grids in Afghanistan.

Clearly, the US military, which risks lives daily to protect America, understands the dangers of foreign oil dependency. But Congress is saying no to biofuels in the military. In the interests of very short-term budget savings, the US House of Representatives has already agreed that the military should go back to guzzling fossil fuels and promoting further global warming.

Biofuels not only produce cleaner energy, they also support America's farms--which produce crops that are processed to make these fuels. Biofuel prices could become competitive with oil and gas prices, but the biofuel industry needs the sales and customers that would allow it to lower prices. Tell Congress to desist from banning biofuels in the military!

We the undersigned ask that you refrain from making the military go back to the dark ages of fossil fuels. The US military has shown amazing enterprise in pioneering biofuels and solar energy. Don't kill their pioneering spirit!

Biofuel is not only cleaner burning, it supports America's farmers who grow the crops needed to process fuel. Biofuel releases America from a dangerous dependency on foreign oil which--by the way--is what the military is often fighting and putting its lives in danger over.

Support the military use of biofuels!
