The Girl Scouts of U.S.A is increasing the amount of the yearly membership fees to $25.00 per year. The organization did not discuss this matter with Girl Scout councils or troops. The current cost is $15.00 per year. We, troop 45107 of Girl Scouts of Western Washington, do not agree with this change, and many others agree with us. It is our opinion that we should only raise the amount to $18.00. Your signature counts!
The most important thing is keeping Girl Scouts open to all girls who want to take part! We think $18 is reasonable, but are open to other ideas. Perhaps Girl Scouts U.S.A. could provide a sliding scale or option for the fee to be waived for low-income girls.
Dear Girl Scouts of the USA,
We, troop 45107 of Girl Scouts of Western Washington, think the increase in yearly membership fees from $15 to $25 is too high, and will make membership unaffordable for many girls. We understand you have increased costs and want to offer girls quality programming, so we are petitioning you to increase the fees to $18 instead of $25.
