Stop Preventable Natural Gas Leaks!

A recent report has revealed that up to 10% of natural gas wells in B.C. are leaking, releasing high amounts of methane into the environment.  This methane is a greenhouse gas that is 34 times more potent than carbon dioxide, which can cause great environmental effects.  Methane gas is also associated with health risks.

The gas leaks are caused by gas seeping from gaps and cracks in the cement used to plug the well holes.  Research on how this can be prevented, as well as more frequent monitoring to repair leaks would be necessary to prevent this serious problem.

Tell the B.C. Gas Commission to take measures to prevent natural gas leaks!
