Students for an Improved and Effective System of Standardized Testing!

Standardized testing is a flawed system of improving student achievement and measuring student competence that disadvantages many groups of students, including . It must be addressed through improved legislation in order to accurately and fairly represent the student population. Our main goal is to make the standardized system more fairly representative of underprivileged groups such as students from low socio-economic levels, and with mental illnesses or disabilities. A few changes that we believe would benefit students include:
    - no limit on free/waived tests for students with families in the lower-income bracket
    - including more ACT and SAT prep within pre-established curriculum
    - extending the testing time so that students do not experience as much stress and pressure
    - an increase in individual action-plans for students with special needs and disabilities
    - a wider range of easily accessible disability accommodations
    - a bigger shift to using game-based or portfolio-based assessments in order to demonstrate student progress and problem-solving abilities
