Demand a Healthy Environment for Learning

In past years, our children have sat in classrooms with temperatures in the 90s and even over 100 degrees. With humidity levels at 75% and higher it causes the heat index to be in the dangerous zone for children. Educational and Medical Research tells us this is not a healthy or productive environment for children to be in for hours and days. Our students have demonstrated how unhealthy this is by the number of visits to the school nurses and private doctors with nausea, dizziness, fainting, higher than normal body temperature, asthma attacks, breathing difficulty, fatigue, bloody noses, headaches and loss of appetite. Please sign to let our School Board know that we want to use the money we have in reserve, that has been saved for capital improvements and is named the HVAC fund, to be used in purchasing and installing new HVAC systems as recommended by the professionals they hired to study the climate issues at our schools.
