Demand that government charges TWO rupee government levy to all retailers for every shopper (plastic bag)

In England a law was introduced in 2015 so that large retailers charged customers 5p for plastic shopping bags. This small charge has resulted in an 80% reduction in their usage and has been an effective way of significantly reducing the number of bags in circulation. Moreover the proceeds of the 5p charge go to various charitable causes. Now the charge is being extended to all retailers There's also now a campaign to introduce similar charges on other 'throwaway' plastics like coffee cups.

The UK government is attempting to tackle resource waste and environmental pollution through small incremental steps that seem to work. If there's little else the next government can do, it can learn from the legislative successes of other countries. We in Pakistan should demand every party manifesto includes the introduction of this levy as a first step towards tackling the plastics proliferation
