HEB, STOP USING PALM OIL!

HEB is one of the greatest food retailers in Texas, with hundreds of convenient shopping centers in the state and with a high-range chain of other stores called "Central Market." It gives a good amount to charity, and for that alone it is a laudable enterprise.

But it has taken up the use of palm oil in many of its products, like, for example, its tortillas. Interestingly enough it uses palm oil for that commodity in its HEB products, but canola oil in its Central Market ones.

Given the devastating impact of palm oil production on forests that are home to orangutans and other endangered animals, a wealthy company like HEB ought to set an example and ban its use in all its products, in all its stores.

Let us strongly urge HEB to do the right thing for the environment and critically endangered animals and stop using palm oil!
