No-Idling Bylaw for North Grenville

It is suggested that a no-idling bylaw be implemented in North Grenville, in order to decrease wasteful and harmful emissions. The North Grenville Municipal Plan makes several references to promote the health of local residents and to protect our environment, specifically stating to “promote a healthy natural environment in North Grenville” and to “Reduce risk to public health and safety from natural and human generated hazards”. Emergency vehicles and a few specialized vehicles need to be left running, but the majority of vehicles that are left running are solely for the short term convenience of the owner, some left running for more than half an hour, even during good weather. It is suggested that the public be encouraged to comply with the bylaw by a campaign on the municipal website and  local newspaper, as well as a small cost to install signs at the malls and the Municipal Centre.
