Demand the Right to Walk

Idividual Names will no longer be called during graduation.

As we go through college, one of the things we look forward to is hearing our name and walking across the stage for our diploma. This is not only an important day for us but to our friends and family as well. They wait for the day they can see their child, brother, sister, mother walk across the stage with the satisfaction that they accomplished their goals.
We spend thousands of dollars and countless hours to graduate and start our lives. Being able to hear our name and walk in front of our friends and family is a feeling that cannot be described. Our accomplishments should be honored and recognized not only to the university of Houston, but to ourselves and others in our lives.
Taking away our opportunity to walk across the stage and get our diploma seems like a personal right and we should have the option to choose weather we want to walk or not. This is our accomplishment that we have worked so hard for and it shouldn’t just be taken away without us even getting a chance to vote or not.
