Don't Block Renewable Energy in Wyoming

Republican legislators in Wyoming have proposed a bill that would effectively kill renewable energy in the state. If passed, the bill would put a lofty fine on any utility companies that generated electricity from wind and solar energy, leaving the state to rely exclusively on non-renewable energy sources like coal, oil and gas.

Not only is this a terrible idea for the environment, it's an unfair way to treat the renewable energy industry. For a party that trumpets the power of the free market, preemptively shutting out wind energy businesses is wildly antithetical to that principle.

We ask the legislation's sponsor, State Rep. David Miller, a board member for a coal company, to withdraw this bill as soon as possible. Passing it would jeopardize Wyoming's environmental and economic future simultaneously.
