Free Menstrual Products at Seneca College

The change is necessary to create a healthy harmonious culture around the period. Periods or menstruation occur every month, and people who experience this natural process deserve to have products to manage their monthly cycle free of cost as it is essential to their health.  Managing your period shouldn't be a luxury.

People who do not menstruate have all the products necessary to manage their hygiene for free. Soap, toilet paper, and hand towels are free in washrooms, but to access menstrual products, one needs to pay a loonie or a quarter. Providing menstrual products can break barriers and reduce stigma towards periods. Having periods and not having access to pads and tampons creates stress, anxiety and missed school. Increased barriers can generate crisis in a student's life.

Humber college and Centennial college are providing menstrual products to their students free of charge. We, students of the Mental Health Intervention program, under the mentorship of Radha Bhardwaj (Seneca College) and in partnership with Philip Jang (Red Dot Project) and Seneca Student Federation wants to create a policy of providing free access to menstrual products to the students of Seneca college.

Please sign this petition to show your support in our effort. Things that students can stress about, managing their periods should never be one of them.
