Stop Commercial Fishing in Corio Bay, Victoria, Australia!

  • af: Geoff Windsor
  • mottagare: Peter Walsh, Minister for Agriculture & Food Securities - Victoria, Australia

Corio Bay is a small off-shoot of Port Phillip Bay in Southern Victoria. It is less than 30 km2 and extremely shallow apart from dredged channels. There are currently 14 commercial - licensed fishing vessels in this bay that are de-nuding it to extinction. Over half of these operators came over from "Westernport Bay" whem commercial fishing was banned there a few years ago!

This SMALL estuarial Bay CANNOT support such intense degradation. Already most of the species have declined dramatically!

Please sign this petition - not to destroy peoples' income, but to conserve our Bay for generations to come!!Thanks all!!
