Rainforest will be destroyed in Ecuador

Yasuni National Park is home to Orchids, Jaguars, Moneys, Birds.  "Even the sound of the motor will destroy the fagility of this place," says a government worker for the Ecuadorian government.

There is oil there.  Earlier Ecuador said they'd leave the oil in the ground if the world would pay them $3.6 Billion.  So far $6.5 million has been raised.  This week, the President of Ecuador scrapped the program.

Environmental groups in Ecuador are hoping to get signatures to force a national park referendum that would protect the park according to an NPR news story.
