Tell states to follow Illinois’ lead and OUTLAW book bans

Last week, Illinois became the first state in the US to OUTLAW book bans in libraries! They banned book bans! This is a meaningful way to fight back against Republican attacks on our libraries, and we need other states to follow suit.

Republicans have been fighting in states across the country to ban books that discuss women's issues, race, LGBTQ issues, and more. They're trying to whitewash and even erase key parts of history and keep kids from learning about important issues. In many cases, books have been banned because of a single complaint.

Librarians, educators, publishers, and parents have rightfully been taking a stand against GOP censorship – and we applaud Illinois state leaders for joining the fight. Now we need more states to follow their lead.
