Save Sylvester The Lion

  • af: Eugene De Waal
  • mottagare: SANPark, South African President Jacob Zuma, SPCA and WWF South Africa

Sylvester the lion will be put down once captured. This beautiful animal has not killed a single human and I quote in a statement released earlier today "The likelihood of him encountering a human being is slim..." EWN Article Why then?

An animal will only try and "escape" his/her confinement if those conditions aren't right for them. Animals are not naive and to put a lovely animal down because his doing what comes naturally to him/her is wrong.

SANPark clearly have not maintained their fences and to punish an animal is wrong.

This animal is most likely under strain in his area, whether it be food or external conditions/factors.

We urge everyone to please sign this to stop the execution of Sylvester The Lion.

On behalf over 1000 individuals who signed this petition, condemning the execution of Sylvester, we plea that you please reconsider acting prematurely in putting down this beautiful young lion!

He too deserves to live and has not killed a single human. It's simply doing what comes natural to him. We beg you to rather please look into why he has escaped twice, e.g conditions and fencing.

Kind Regards
Eugene De Waal

Thank you for your support. South African National Parks (SANParks) announces that it will be relocating the lion which escaped from Karoo National Park at the end of March to the Addo Elephant National Park (AENP). More on this story https://www.sanparks.org/about/news/?id=56654

Sylvester has been found and is currently being taken back to the SANPark. Despite our initial goal we set out, we have decided to forward the petition letter to CEO Fundisile Mketeni. We thank everyone for their support and in sharing this petition. We are still unaware of what action SANPark will take on Sylvester. Once we are notified we will update this petition board. Their latest news release can be found on https://www.sanparks.org/about/news/default.php?id=56642
