Larsen Traps are wooden or metal cages with to two or more compartments, one compartment will contain a crow, magpie or Jay which sometimes has had its wings clipped and may have been held captive for months. That bird will encourage others to a compartment where it will fall in and later be killed. These traps are generally used by Gamekeepers , although some are found in gardens. Great cruelty occurs as the birds are often neglected, and no official ever checks on them as no record of their location is required outside Scotland.
