SAVE BUCKLEY RECYCLING CENTRE

Due to funding shortages, Flintshire County Council are considering closing some recycling centres. One of the centres possibly under fire will be Buckley. As the second largest town in Flintshire we feel that it would have a detrimental effect on our town, which has already lost so much.

The EU sets a target for the UK to reduce its waste by 50% by 2020. Wales leads the UK with its recycling efforts, and is 4th in the whole EU for reaching targets. Wales met its landfill target for biodegradable waste 8 years early. There is a law, created by Welsh Government, that sets targets for waste and recycling, by 2025 the targets will have increased to 75%

If recycling centres are closed, I feel we will not meet these targets. Flintshire County Council is already spending a lot of money clearing up illegally dumped waste (fly tipping) - it would certainly increase if recycling centres are closed.  2/3rds of fly tipping comes from household sources.

Buckley recycling centre is a well used site, a town this size needs this to stay - DO NOT SHUT IT!!
