Demand New Dress Code Guidelines Be Repealed

  • af: Erin Ellis

The School Board has made an addition to the districtwide dress code policy, stating that students are no longer permitted to wear hooded sweatshirts, or "hoodies". The new rule states that "solid colored sweatshirts and sweaters in the school approved colors may be worn over the approved shirt, provided they have no print on the front." This is going to be a problem for many students, who do not own anything within the new guidelines. The policy will be an even bigger problem for students that are not financially capable of buying a new jacket.
Parents and students should no longer allow the school board to force unnecessary restrictions upon students' dress.
