Ban Cigarettes From All California State Beaches.

Did you know that cigarette butts (filters) comprise close to half of all garbage picked up off of California beaches? The vast majority of cigarette filters are made of synthetic materials which do not biodegrade.

Used cigarette filters contain concentrated levels of toxins and when introduced to water, release those chemicals, thus making used filters not just unsightly, but dangerous. The problem however, does not stop there, as many land and marine animals often mistake cigarette butts as a food source and consume them. The end result can be deadly.

Need we also be reminded that second hand cigarette smoke is unhealthy? Anyone who has ever spent a day at the beach with cigarette smokers around them know what an unpleasant experiece it can be. Every living being needs to breath. Not one single living being needs to smoke.

For the ocean. For the planet. For your children. For the future. Please help ban cigarettes from our beaches. Thank You.
