The Board of Education in the Poughkeepsie City School District has removed our Class of 2014 guidance counselor, Mr. Frankie Perez, they have taken him from the Poughkeepsie High School and placed him in the Poughkeepsie Middle School. After three years of bonding with Mr. Perez from our Freashman year, he has been forced to leave us in our time of need, our senior year. Mr.Perez knows all of his seniors, and it is not right to remove him from us now when we need him the most. If we get a new guidance counselor how would they write our letters of recommendation? What will they put in our letters, that they knew us for a few months and that we are all wonderful students? College recommendations are signifacant in getting into college and a letter of recommendation from a foregin guidance couselor could damage our potential exception into college. The Class of 2014 is not the only group of students who will be greatly effected by his absence. The clubs he participated in such as Year Book and Latinos Unitidos will are be greatly effected. Mr. Perez not only inspired us to acheive our goals as a graduating class but he also inspired other students in various grades to be successful in life. We strongly desire to have Mr.Perez back as our guidance counselor and mentor for the remainder of our high school journey.
