Zipcar is all about reducing the number of cars on the road, and finding sustainable solutions for people who need to get around. It's easier to choose not to drive, or not to drive all the time, when you know you have a car when you need them.

Why Beacon?
- People here care about the environment. Beacon is the home of the Beacon Sloop Club, and has been active in improving the environment since 1969. Car sharing is the kind of idea that is appealing to people who want to make the planet a cleaner place.
- Beacon is a fairly walkable city, which means many of us could avoid owning a car, or families could avoid owning two cars, if we had the option of occasionally borrowing a car when we need one.
- Visitors who arrive in Beacon by train could explore more of the city and the surrounding area if they could pick up a car at the train station or Dia: Beacon and return it on their way home.
All of the things that make Zipcar great would be an excellent addition to Beacon. We are a growing city, in an area with lots of great things to visit. Once the Roundhouse hotel opens up on the East side, there will be even more reasons for Zipcars to be parked nearby.
What's more, there are plenty of spots around town that would be great for keeping a few Zipcars, so that residents and visitors could get around town without owning cars.
