Florida Universities, Tell Students Protesting Gun Violence Won't Hurt Admission Chances

On March 24th students and their families all across the country will join together in a #MarchForOurLives. Yet, some school districts have threatened to expel any student who participates in a gun sense protest. That's why MIT and BU have publicly stated that any punishment a student receives for protesting gun violence will not count against them on their college applications.

As the epicenter of the protest planning is in Florida, this petition is to urge every public school in Florida, which is governed by the Florida Board of Governors to tell students they will not be penalized in their college applications for any punishment that comes due to protesting.

Sign on if you think high school students in Florida deserve to march for their lives without fear of sacrificing their educational futures.

The students planning these protests across the country are amazing, brave and heroic young people. We have failed them and they have lived in fear for too long. We can support them by demanding public institutions support their right to protest. It's literally their lives as stake here, it's the least we can do.

Please sign on to ask the Florida Board of Governors to let it be known that they will still consider equally any student who has protested and had academic punishment as a result.

Many colleges and universities are joining in telling students they won’t be penalized for participating in peaceful protests. So far, none in Florida. Keep sharing the petition, we need students to know we’ll protect them!
