Better Learning Opportunity For All

As a student in Plano ISD, I’ve noticed how heavily the stress of school weighs down on its students especially at the high school levels. Remaining in a classroom environment for 8 hours everyday, 5 days a week is not a healthy way for a child or teenager’s brain to develop, and it gives teachers less than enough time for lesson preparation. It also leaves no time for social interaction with the workload we’re expected to complete in the span of a 2 1/2 day weekend. This, in turn, leads to stressed out, isolated students and teachers. The solution? Shorten the week. Cutting out Mondays would add an extra day of rest and relaxation for students and teachers before being thrust into the hectic schedule of a school day.
