City Council: Keep Your Word

Friends of Rapid City Parks wants to protect, preserve and promote our park system, which is a legacy of the 1972 Flood. The Memorial Greenway is sacred ground, honoring the 238 lives lost in the flood. It should not be paved over to provide parking for private downtown businesses. Park land is designated by law, and cannot be used for parking lots. In 2009 the city promised to restore West Memorial Park to greenway, and they should keep their word. They think the citizens don't care, but we do.
