Tell DesMoines Not To Stomp On Solar Panels

DesMoines, Iowa city council is drafting building codes that severely limit the use of solar power. Specifically, people will have to locate their panels where neighbors can't see them. Where does that leave? This local initiative sets a really dangerous precedent. Most cities haven't even thought of telling people whether they could put up a solar panel, and now DesMoines is limiting the freedom of solar users, and putting aesthetics ahead of climate health.

Please join me in asking the DesMoines city council not to limit the use of solar power and give homeowners the right to install panels anywhere on their own property.

Dear DesMoines City Council:

I am deeply concerned that your actions are taking away the freedom of your local residents. Specifically, you are implementing laws that severely restrict the placement of solar panels. Solar panels need to be placed where they work. Many houses have only one side that is really conducive to solar power. Please also know that solar energy is one of the best steps people can take to slowing the progress of climate change and the terrible storms and rising sea levels that it brings. Please do not to limit the use of solar power and give homeowners the right to install panels anywhere on their own property.
