Starbucks; STOP using plastic straws!!

Starbucks; a brand that provides us with:
Espressos
lattes
and thousands of tonnes of plastic waste every year.
Starbucks uses 'roughly 4 billion cups each year'. If we account for the odd person that takes a handful of straws and a group of friends who take four straws for one cup, then we are estimating that they use around 5-6 billion straws EVERY year.
Now if we consider that each straw can take over 500 years to fully decompose, that is a lot of plastic being produced by just ONE company when they could easily switch to paper straws.
The Starbucks logo depicts a smiling mermaid. I can't help but to see the irony as the mermaid beams out of her circular green prison, her face plastered onto cups, shop-fronts and billboards all over the world. How can they symbolise themselves with a marine creature when their consumption of single use plastic straws is helping to kill 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and turtles EVERY year...?
Plastic is contaminating the ocean, killing millions of creatures and even passing up the food chain and affecting human health.
Call on STARBUCKS to stop the use of PLASTIC STRAWS!
This is #TheLastStraw !
