FEMA, Add 'Climate Change' Back To Your Strategic Plan

On 4/15, FEMA released its new strategic plan for the upcoming years and it had eliminated all references to climate change.

Keep in mind, this is an agency that dealt with record natural disasters like fires, hurricanes and flooding in 2017 that scientists nearly unanimously agree were spurred on by climate change.

There's no way that scrubbing the term from its plan and a list of "emerging threats" is in any way helpful to FEMA as they address subsequent disasters. If the agency is really committed to investing in "pre-disaster mitigation," then it has to acknowledge that climate change is the cause.

We urge FEMA leader Brock Long to amend the plan and prepare his agency for the challenges our country is actually and actively facing.
