Make Boys and Girls Gym Requrements Equal in the Vancouver Public Schools School District!

Hello, I am a 13 year old 8th grade male student of Thomas Jefferson Middle School. And I belive that the disctict wide difference in expectation on tests in our physical education programs is sexist, and extremely unfair. During our tests in our P.E class, the women have substantially lower expectations than the men. During pushups, the women get to do pushups on their knees, and have a higher point that they need to lower to, to have the pushup count. And durng sit ups, they have to do about 10 less sit ups than the men. The truth is, many of the women in our school can do exactly what the men can. During our timed mile, the women come extremly close, and better than many of the men and often finish sooner than about 80% of the men. I, Quinn Bailey Reid-Rice would like a change. Instead of labeling women as weaker than men, label them as equal. Not better. Women should not be told "You are weaker than men so you don't have to do as much" They should be told "You are just as strong, and capable as men and you are held at the same standard." For years women have been labeled as weaker and more fragile than men. And I want that to change, just as much as anyone else. But our school districts haven't been able to let go of "Women are weaker than men." But this is the 21st century and we need equal rights. This may be a small school district in 1 of the 50 states in the United States of America, but, if we are to change things, we have to start small. I'm Quinn Reid-Rice and i'm for equal rights.
