Excused school days in the state of NJ during State of Emergency

In the past two to three years the state of NJ has been hit with flooding, hurricanes, power outages and snow storms that have caused schools to close exceeding the required 180 days of school.  We feel that if the state of NJ declares a state of emergency, schools should be waived the required 180 days.  Each school district must request a waiver from the State Department of Education to have missed days excused.  Alabama has already adopted this procedure after being hit with tornadoes in 2011
