Take Urgent Action in Global Fish Decline Caused by Overfishing

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is supposed to be a trusted resource regarding the global fish supply. But new research says that FAO data is leaving out 32 million tons of caught fish per year in its official figures by not counting fish catches from illegal and small-scale fishing; and "global fisheries catch between 1950 and 2010 has been underestimated by more than 50 percent."

Not keeping accurate global records threatens the security of our ecosystems and human lives. The U.N. FAO has acted irresponsibly by letting the world believe that fish are declining slower than what they actually are.

Sign and share this petition demanding the U.N. FAO to keep accurate records of the global fish supply by including activities from illegal and small-scale fishing. And now that we know that overfishing is causing fish to decline faster than we thought, we need the U.N. FAO to take urgent action in solving this global issue now.
