Save the Pink Fairy Armadillo

My son chose to learn about the Pink Fairy Armadillo for a school project. As a result, we have learned so much about these amazing and threatened animals!

Sadly, part of what we have learned is that they are endangered because people are destroying their natural habitat and attempting to domesticate them.

Their staple food is ants, and as farmers are expanding more and more into their territory, they spray chemicals to keep ants away, thus eliminating the Pink Fairy Armadillo's primary food source.

The Pink Fairy Armadillo is very sensitive and does not cope well with change. When they are forcibly removed from their homes to make room for urban development, they become gravely stressed and many die. The longest we know of them surviving in captivity is 8 days... they literally cannot handle the stress!

The Pink Fairy Armadillo has been on the endangered species list since 1970 (nearly 50 years!) yet according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, there are no conservation plans or laws to protect them.

We implore the Argentinean government to take immediate action by writing comprehensive laws to protect the Pink Fairy Armadillo and their habitat. Please join us in this rally call to save these very unique creatures!
