Save Indus River Delta

    Indus river delta is second largest delta system in Asia and fourth in world with area of 40000 square kilometers. In last 30 years more 3.5 million acres of land encroached by Arabian sea and hundreds of villages are vanished under sea in district Thatta, Sujawal and Badin. Indus river delta which is fourth largest delta in the world is under serious destruction phase; historically delta has been receiving more than 80 MAF of water and silt of more than 400 million tons to sustain its ecosystem but 14 dams and 43 canals sucking almost all water of Indus River and all 17 major creeks of delta became coves or costal inlet now. Indus river delta which receive highest amount of wave energy in the world is under continuous destruction through soil erosion too. More than 2 million people of delta, seventh largest forest of mangroves (it is largest desert climate mangroves in the world), hundreds of species of fish and species of seasonal birds are under risk.
