Close Illegal Wildlife Market in Aceh Sumatra

  • af: Jan Garen

This illegal market at Aceh Sumatra has openly traded for three years. It is on the edge of the protected Sumatran Rain Forest. It trades in baby Orang Utans, pangolins, pig tailed macaques and many other endangered species.

Many are so neglected and welfare conditions so appalling that they die. These pictures tell the story of the neglect that occurs every day.

This situation is horrifying and totally unacceptable. These animals must be afforded the protection they deserve.
Dear Mr Scanlon,

Please investigate and close the illegal wildlife market at Aceh in Sumatra. This market is openly trading in animals that should be afforded the protection of CITES. Animals include young Orang Utans, pangolins, king cobras and a multitude of others. This trade is illegal and must be stopped. Please urge the Indonesian Government to uphold the law. These pictures show the situation in Aceh.

Yours Sincerely,
Jan Garen
