Tell Fish and Wildlife to Save Colorado's Wildflowers!

Last August, Fish and Wildlife denied Endangered Species Act protection to two Colorado wildflowers after proposing to protect the plants and their habitat just one year earlier.

The two flowers in question are the White River beardtongue and Graham beardtongue. Both of these interesting flowers are large, colorful and very beautiful, enhancing Colorado's native landscape. They also serve as pollen sources for native bee species. Unfortunately, their habitat overlaps with oil shale formations. According to environmental law organization Earthjustice, mining and drilling supporters pressured Fish and Wildlife to withdraw their plans to protect these precious flowers.

Wildflowers are a crucial part of any ecosystem and need protection from drilling and mining. Fish and Wildlife has a duty to protect endangered species, whether or not they seem politically and economically inconvenient. Please sign the petition to urge Fish and Wildlife to re-open the public comment period on listing and critical habitat so citizens have a chance to speak up for their native species!
