Stop Southern California Gas Leak

Southern California Gas Co. needs to take responsibility for a leak that has persisted above Porter Ranch in Southern California. The leak is coming from a broken well wall that encloses the gas pipe. According to Representative Brad Sherman, nearby residents have been getting sick from the escaping fumes for six weeks now.

California state leaders have twice demanded that Southern California Gas take action to stop the leak, but more pressure appears to be needed. Sherman has asked that the Environmental Protection Agency investigate this problem. Please join with me in supporting Sherman's request. Ask the Environmental Protection Agency to investigate Southern California Gas Co.'s gas leak.

To the Environmental Protection Agency:

We the undersigned are dismayed to learn that the leak above Porter Ranch in Southern California persists despite state demands that the Southern California Gas Co. fix it. It appears that the problem is a broken well casing. While we recognize that a gas leak must be approached very carefully, it is entirely unacceptable to allow nearby residents to be poisoned while Southern California Gas Co. studies the situation. Legal compliance in this event is not enough. Residents have been exposed to dangerous gas fumes for six weeks. Please investigate this gas leak.
