Stop Illegal Whaling in Japan

Overexploit, cheat, deplete. The cycle of greed behind the global whaling industry has driven one whale population after another toward oblivion. Even after decades of protection, it is still unknown whether or not some species will recover.

Under the disguise of "scientific whaling," more than 30,000 whales have been killed since the International Whaling Ban was put in place in 1982.
Whales can be researched without being killed!

Help put and end to this unjust and cruel slaughter of this majestic species! Tell the Japanese government what you think of their views regarding whaling for food and scientific reasons. Get your voice heard!

Dear Yasuo Fukuda,
I am deeply opposed to the commercial and scientific whale hunts being conducted by Japan. Many species of whales are endangered and very close to becomming extinct.
Selling whale meat for consumption is as unsafe as it is cruel. Whale blubber is found to be contaminated with various halogenated-organic contaminants such as PCBs, DDT and brominated flame retardants. If someone ate a piece of whale blubber the size of a thumb, they would be dosing themselves many times over the advisory limits of some of the most toxic compounds known to humans!
Whaling for scientific reasons is also unjust. The research being collected can easily be found without killing the whale!

I understand that this letter won't change your mind immediately, but give it some thought and take time to realize the impact that you are having on the ocean. Not to mention present and future generations.
