Phoenix College Please Be Quiet

Phoenix College's newly repurposed classroom building at 11th Avenue & Thomas Road in Phoenix, now its Science Building, has been topped with three noisy exhaust turbines on the roof that broadcast noise into the nearby historic neighborhoods 24/7—even when the school is closed. The noise is keeping people awake, fraying nerves and certainly affecting property values. The neighbors are asking the College and the Board of Governors of the Maricopa County Community College District to do what other schools do on the roofs of their science labs: create an acoustic enclosure on the roof to stop the sound and preserve the architectural beauty of the building. We support the neighborhood in this, and we support their effort to have monitoring of the toxins expelled into the neighborhood from the labs.
