The advent of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) has the opportunity to revolutionize the automotive industry. These vehicles use hydrogen gas to power an electric motor with a driving range far superior to the plug in electric cars. A plug in electric takes far longer to recharge than a hydrogen vehicle does to refuel. The emissions from a hydrogen FCV are only heat and water vapor. Consumers will not purchase hydrogen FCVs without a convenient method to refuel them. The government should provide HUGE incentives to commercial industry to develop the infrastructure necessary to deliver hydrogen to the consumer at hydrogen FCV refueling stations. Once a large enough number of refueling stations exist, the consumer demand for hydrogen FCVs will go up and the corresponding environmental benefits and economic benefits of saving petroleum fuels for air travel will be realized. This petition demands an end to the “chicken and egg” problem facing the production and widespread use of hydrogen FCVs by using public funds to incentivize the commercial hydrogen distribution industry to build more hydrogen refueling stations in communities throughout America.
