Oppose the Murkowski Attack on the Clean Air Act

The Clean Air Act is the legislation that focuses on protecting and improving air quality on a national level.

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is moving to eliminate the Clean Air Act's ability to protect Americans from global warming.

If the Murkowksi bill is enacted, the measure would permanently bar the Environmental Protection Agency from requiring polluters to cut their emissions of greenhouse gases.

This bill would be a serious threat to our fight against global warming.

Take Action: Sign this petition to tell your Senators to oppose the Murkowski bill!
I am writing to urge you to oppose Senator Lisa Murkowski's effort to eliminate the Clean Air Act's ability to protect Americans from global warming. That measure could be offered in the very near future as a "resolution of disapproval" under the Congressional Review Act.

This attack on the Clean Air Act would put public health at risk and jeopardize long-overdue action to hold the biggest polluters accountable, reduce America's oil dependence, and jump-start a vibrant clean energy economy.

The Supreme Court has ruled that global warming pollutants are covered by the Clean Air Act and the EPA has begun carrying out the law by taking steps to limit global warming pollution from vehicle and from large power plants and factories.

Instead of embracing this progress, Senator Murkowski's bill would strike at the heart of the Clean Air Act, permanently blocking these actions and letting America's biggest polluters off the hook.

I urge you to oppose the Murkowski "resolution of disapproval" and instead to move quickly to enact a comprehensive energy and climate bill that will create jobs, limit carbon pollution and unleash our clean energy future.
