A Petition to Sustain and Expand Manufacturing Connect at Chicago Public High Schools

Manufacturing companies in Chicago can't find the talent needed to compete in the global economy. Thousands of jobs are going unfilled. Our young people—particularly from the West and South sides —don't have access to enough quality programs that prepare them for these career opportunities. Manufacturing Connect is a nationally-recognized program that solves this problem. We are at risk of losing Manufacturing Connect due to lack of funding.

We ask Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and CPS CEO Janice Jackson to:

1. Sustain the MC programs at Austin College & Career Academy, Bowen High School and Prosser Career Academy; and

2. Expand the program to additional schools in the City to meet the talent needs of manufacturers at the scale required.

To stay in Chicago, these companies need a pool of skilled workers. Manufacturing Connect helps to build the worker pool, with skilled, industry-certified workers. This initiative is win/win for the worker community and for the companies producing good-paying jobs in Chicago. Please help spread the word to save this vital alternative pathway to good-paying jobs.
