Now is the Time to Save the Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay watershed is home to more than 17 million people and over 2,700 species of plants and animals. Shamefully, due to pollution, the Bay and most of its tributaries are listed on EPA's notorious "dirty waters" list.

In an effort to fix this, the EPA drafted the Clean Water Blueprint, which established pollution limits for nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment pollution in the Chesapeake Bay.

This Clean Water Blueprint does three things:
1. ensures everyone shares in the responsibility for cleaning up our waterways;
2. sets two-year, incremental pollution-reduction goals - known as milestones - to keep progress on track; and most importantly;
3. imposes consequences for failure, ensuring states and localities will meet their responsibilities.

Unfortunately, powerful interests whose profits depend on their ability to pollute are fighting to derail the effort. Take the Clean Water Blueprint Pledge today and stand with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
By adding my name, I commit to doing my part and standing with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to support the Clean Water Blueprint for the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams.
