The City of Greeley is considering a request by Mineral Resources, Inc. for approval of a Use by Special Review to allow up to nineteen (19) oil & gas wells, nineteen (19) separators, and twenty-four (24) tanks on a property located east of the future 27th Avenue extension, approximately 850 feet north of 32nd Street and approximately 725 feet south of 29th Street. The subject site is approximately 17.239 acres and is currently zoned C-H (Commercial High Intensity) and is directly adjacent to Frontier Academy.
Mineral Resources, Inc. wants to place a large oil and gas drilling operation, called South Greeley Directional, just 478 feet away from the Frontier Academy Elementary School playground. The explosion near Lucerne/Eaton (March 2014) and the blowout in Windsor (2013) raise many concerns of health and safety. They are recent reminders that oil and gas wells near homes and schools could become a devastating tragedy! This industrial proposal is very concerning in such close proximity to the school, especially all our young children!
The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) already gave preliminary approval to place up to 67 wells with 32 oil tanks, and 30 separators on the site. Speak out and sign this petition to demand Greeley does not approve the Use by Special Review (USR) to allow up to 19 wells, 19 separators, and 24 tanks at this location until and unless all questions about health and safety are thoroughly addressed! This is not an appropriate location for this industrial proposal. Parents are asking for an independent safety, health and location analysis.
