We Need Sufficient Funding for Emergency Fires

The wildfires that are blazing through California are not only dangerous, but they are very resource-intensive. The cost of containing and fighting these fires is getting out of hand.

The U.S. House has just passed a piece of legislation designed to address the cost of fighting emergency wildfires. The Federal Land Assistance, Management and Enhancement (FLAME) Act, H.R. 5541, provides a source of funding for emergency fires and dictates a plan for paying back any funds that are borrowed from other programs.

Now, it's the Senate's turn to make sure this legislation is passed, and that there are minimal funding constraints for the Forest Service to get the job done.

Dear Senator,

I am writing to voice my support for the Federal Land Assistance, Management and Enhancement (FLAME) Act, H.R. 5541, which was just passed by the House of Representatives. This legislation provides a source of funding for emergency wildfires and dictates a plan for paying back any funds that are borrowed from other programs.

This bill is critical to fighting wildfires like the ones California has been experiencing. I want to make sure that there are minimal funding constraints on the Forest Service, so they can get the funds they need as soon as they are needed.
