We must cut pollution to protect our reef

The Great Barrier Reef is a wonder of our world – home to turtles, dolphins and dazzling schools of fish. But pollution is heating the planet and the reef is bleaching before our eyes.

With so much at stake, it is outrageous that the federal government has approved Adani's multi-billion dollar Carmichael coal mine, one of the biggest coal mines in the world.

Burning coal spews pollution into our environment, which fuels global warming and drives up the temperature of our oceans. When water temperatures rise, corals become stressed resulting in bleaching and death.

Almost a quarter of the coral on the Great Barrier Reef died in this year's devastating global coral bleaching event.

It's black and white. Coal pollution is bleaching our Reef. Australia's pollution is rising. Yet the federal government is putting the big polluters first.

We must speak out now and demand our new government close dirty coal-burning power stations, reject new coal mines and shift Australia to clean energy before it is too late.

Add your voice by signing the petition to demand the new government cut pollution, support clean energy, and protect our Reef!
