Stop Discover Rabid Raccoon commercial

Dear Mr. Purcell:

The continued ignorance resulting in animal abuse must stop. Newly released, the "Discover Card Rabid Raccoon" commercial depicts a frothing at the mouth raccoon attacking a man. The words "Rabid Raccoon" also appear in the commercial for the hearing impaired. Although these words were not aired to the general public, it is evident the raccoon was depicted as rabid by its aggressive action & frothing at the mouth.

We of The American Raccoon Association, a non-profit group dedicated to bring awareness to the public, feel this commercial is only going to cause further killing and senseless brutality to what the public at large feels is a "nuisance" animal. This false ideal that all raccoons are rabid must change. Countless babies are left orphaned simply because their mothers forage for food in public places, sometimes in daylight, and are needlessly killed.

The Discover card executive offices feel "this commercial is humorous and directed to an intelligent audience ". We feel it is violent and wrong in its depiction of a generally recluse, intelligent member of the animal kingdom.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned.
