Stand Up for the Future of Our Parks

The natural world gives us so much — quiet, beauty, a sense of place. And it's our responsibility to give back to nature.

We can't take the natural world for granted. The backlog of projects in our most treasured nature places, our parks, continues to grow. Trails are overgrown. Visitor centers are in disrepair. Important wildlife research projects are on hold.

That's why we must engage people from all walks of life to connect with and take action to protect and preserve nature — from our big national parks to our local community green spaces and the cities and cultural landmarks in between. As our National Park Service is preparing to celebrate 100 years of protecting our parks, we need to ensure that future generations are prepared to care for our natural treasures.

The Student Conservation Association engages young people to help solve these problems. Last year our conservation teams put in 1.5 million hours of volunteer service, tended 7.6 million feet of public trails, restored 285 miles of shoreline, saved 5.4 million gallons of water and more.
